“Too many of us are not living our dreams because we are living our fears”– Les Brown
What I have learned from nature, while herding at 7 in the countryside is that direction is more important than deviations. And by the end of the day, it is just patience and time.
With all the ups and downs that we face throughout the journey, which is just part of it, all that matters is a direction and motives that drain you, make it “OK” or enrich you.
Your habits, interests, people that you meet on your path – the environment, it has a great effect on whom you will not become. Change the environment and see yourself change.
I had been working with a guy who has an Asperger’s diagnosis. Occasionally he visits various consultants who provide the “treatment” and family members are near him all the time. The drama of the story is the diagnosis apparently being a hoax.
The sole reason the guy was having it, is everyone around him believes he has the Asperger’s. As a result, he also believed so. Parents did not let the guy make a single move at his 25. The only reason for the professional oblivion is that day to day they literally contributed to his failure with excessive guardianship that undermined the ability to deal with challenges and take responsibility. Rationally he used the excuse of Asperger’s diagnosis in conversations but emotionally was looking for a challenge.
The only remedy was his inner willpower to actually put himself into practice. The only thing the guy needed is a true attitude with no bullsh*t about the condition claimed, but a true responsibility and a chance to learn and make own portion of mistakes to grow.
It is important to listen to what your guts are telling you. The moment you find yourself listening to others as of what you are or what is it good for you and what you cannot become, i.e. setting boundaries and make a decision for you, well: “Run, Forrest, Run!”. It is a sign of selfishness, manipulation, or a counterproductive behavioral model as it has zero information that reasons from your experience, personality, motives, and interests.
Just take a moment and listen to what your inner voice has to say, feel it. The other part of the deal is to follow it. The moment you do is the moment you are truly born.
